IPM Questionnaire

Purpose

Use the IPM questionnaire and reporting guidelines to gather information on pest control in a public housing authority (PHA) before and after an IPM program. By doing so, you will gain information on PHA pest control practices so you can

  • customize the training day to the site;
  • make recommendations for the implementation of IPM following the training; and
  • produce two data sets by which the success of the IPM program can be evaluated.

Scope

The questionnaire is based on PIH Notice 2011-22 and a list of survey questions prepared by the IPM training advisory group. It covers all aspects of a pest control program.

How to conduct

If you plan to publish results from your questionnaire in a journal, get the necessary approval from your institutional review board (IRB).

  1. Schedule a call or meeting with the pilot site property manager and any staff or contractors involved in pest management.
    1. Let them know that the call will take under an hour.
    2. Send them the questionnaire ahead of time.
  2. On the day of the call, read the disclaimer (if required by IRB) and go through the questionnaire, but leave out the questions that are highlighted in yellow.
  3. Following the one-year IPM pilot,
    1. Repeat the process with the entire question set.
    2. Send the property manager the report prompt and request that he or she respond to each question.
