Make sure your dumpster is:

• On cement or asphalt
• Free of holes larger than 1/4" (with screened, capped, or plugged drainage spouts)
• Covered by a well-fitting lid
• Located at least 25' from the building and at least 3' from any wall or fence
• Emptied regularly enough so that the lid will close and it doesn’t overflow
• Monitored for spilled trash and puddles of water; clean these up immediately

If rodents are active around the dumpsters, talk to a Pest Management Professional about installing secure tamper-resistant bait stations and servicing them regularly.
