Do bed bugs feed on pets?

It is much more common for bed bugs to feed on people than on pets.

If the infestation is bad, they may feed on pets, but bed bugs aren’t like fleas or ticks. They don’t have the right feet for crawling in or on hair. On pets, they will most likely feed on exposed skin: on feet, on the belly, and around the eyes, anus, and mouth. Because pets are a potential food source, inspect around their cages and bedding.

No pesticides are labeled for bed bug control on pets. As always, we do recommend flea and tick treatments and heartworm medication as prescribed by a veterinarian.
