How does IPM fit into existing housing procedures?

For a housing provider to implement an IPM program, it’s important to tie IPM components into existing procedures. The following is a list of documents that most properties have to describe their pest control policies and procedures. At the beginning of your IPM program, get a copy of each and read through them, looking for portions that apply to an IPM program. Language in these documents represents a binding commitment and thus can be enforced if needed.

  1. Residential lease (including a pet policy and the housekeeping standards)
  2. Pest control policy (if any)
  3. Resident notifications/educational materials pertaining to pest control
  4. Pest control contract or job description of the in-house pest control staff (if any)
